How much does GEO cost in 2026?

Anton TysiachnikAnton Tysiachnik, founder of InSync AgencyUpdated: 30 September 20267 min read

Based on our market review, entry-level GEO offers cost $200–500 a month, a proper agency test runs $2,000–5,000, and serious projects cost $8,000–15,000+ a month. The price depends on content volume, competition in your niche, the number of markets and languages, and whether the provider works on external mentions. Below we break down what you're paying for and how to avoid overpaying for promises.

How much does GEO cost? Market ranges

GEO (generative engine optimization) is the work of getting ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI to know your business and name it in their answers. The market is young and there's no standard price list, so the spread is wide. We cover how GEO differs from traditional search optimization in our guide on what GEO is and how it differs from SEO.

LevelPrice per monthWhat you usually get
Entry-level offers$200–500Technical setup, a little content, basic measurement
Proper test$2,000–5,000Regular content, markup, measurement across several AI engines, first external mentions
Serious project$8,000–15,000+Several markets or languages, PR and work with external sources, a dedicated team

Some agencies sell GEO starting at $6,000 a month. All figures here come from our market review: treat them as a benchmark, not any specific company's price list.

What drives the price of GEO?

  • Content volume. How many new pages and answers the provider produces each month. Content is usually the main cost.
  • Competition in your niche. In big-city dentistry or B2B software, many companies compete for a spot in the answer, so you need more pages and mentions.
  • Number of markets and languages. Each language means a separate set of queries, pages and measurements.
  • External mentions. Directories, rankings, publications and expert comments take manual work and often a placement budget. This is the most expensive part.
  • Site condition and platform. On WordPress or a custom-coded site, everything can be configured directly. On Wix, Tilda and Squarespace some settings are off-limits, and sometimes a new site is cheaper.
  • Measurement depth. How many queries and AI engines are checked, how often, and what the report looks like.

What a GEO service should include

Whatever the price, a decent provider has a clear scope of work. Check the contract or proposal against this list.

  • An initial audit of technical readiness: site responds, title, meta description, Schema.org JSON-LD, FAQ markup, llms.txt, AI crawlers allowed in robots.txt, sitemap.xml.
  • A baseline measurement before work starts: a list of your customers' questions and who AI engines currently name for them.
  • Technical setup: access for OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, markup, indexing in Google and Bing.
  • Content: pages that answer customer questions directly and include specifics such as services, starting prices, address and timing.
  • Consistent data: the same name, address and contacts on your site, maps and directories.
  • Regular measurement and reporting on the same queries as at the start, so you can see before and after.

If a proposal has no baseline measurement, there's nothing to prove the result against later. We cover the most common blockers in our guide on why ChatGPT recommends your competitors instead of you.

DIY, freelancer, agency or GEO Autopilot: which to choose?

OptionPriceWhat you getMain risk
DIY$0 in cash, but your timeA technical baseline from a checklist and content you write yourselfNo measurement system, work keeps getting postponed
FreelancerNegotiable, varies widelySetup and copy for your taskDependence on one person, measurement often not included
Agency$2,000–5,000 for a test, $8,000–15,000+ for a large projectA team, content, PR and external mentionsHigh entry cost, slow approvals
GEO Autopilot$199 first month, then $149/month, 3-month minimumSetup, 4 new pages a month, monthly measurement and reportOnly partial support for Wix, Tilda and Squarespace

DIY makes sense if you have the time and someone on the team can edit the site. An agency is justified when you need several markets and systematic work with external sources. With a freelancer, ask upfront whether measurement is included and who owns the pages they create.

Red flags: what not to pay for

  • A guaranteed "#1 in ChatGPT". AI answers change from query to query, and nobody controls them directly. A promise like that means the provider either doesn't understand how this works or is counting on you not understanding.
  • A report that's a screenshot of one good answer. One answer proves nothing. You need a fixed set of queries and repeated measurement.
  • A "secret technology" with no description of the work. You should know exactly what was done on your site and where.
  • Fake reviews and links from spammy sites. They put your reputation and your regular search rankings at risk.
  • The whole service is an llms.txt file. The format was proposed in 2024, hasn't become an official standard, and support by the major AI engines isn't guaranteed.
  • A long contract with no interim reports and no access to what's been done.

How long until results, and how do you measure them?

Mentions in AI answers usually appear within 2–4 months. The technical part is faster, but AI engines need time to recrawl your site and come across you in other sources.

An example from our own site, insync.com.ua: about a week and a half after we launched a GEO setup, citations of the site in ChatGPT went from 0 to 24, and for 4 out of 4 branded queries the AI knows the agency. For category queries like "best agency for…" we're not named yet. Those depend on external mentions, which take longer.

Measure three things: your site's technical readiness, mentions for branded queries and mentions for category queries. Our guide on how to check whether ChatGPT sees your business shows how to run a first measurement for free.

When is a low-cost option enough, and when do you need a bigger budget?

A low-cost format suits a local business with one market: a clinic, salon, café or service company. The job there is clear: cover the technical basics, publish pages for customer questions and measure results regularly.

An agency-level budget makes sense if you operate in several countries or languages, your niche is highly competitive, and you need systematic work on external mentions: publications, rankings, partnerships. A sensible path is to start with the technical basics and content, review the measurements from the first months, and only then decide whether you need PR.

What GEO Autopilot includes and what it costs

We've packaged the core of GEO into a fixed-price product. GEO Autopilot costs $199 for the first month: setup, the first measurement and the first 4 pages, with no separate setup fee and no extras. After that it's $149 a month, with a 3-month minimum.

  • 4 new pages a month built around your customers' questions;
  • a monthly measurement and before-and-after report;
  • a free 8-factor audit in 60 seconds in a Telegram bot, before you pay anything;
  • works best on WordPress and custom-coded sites, with partial support for Wix, Tilda and Squarespace.

If your site is outdated or built on a website builder, there's a "Website + GEO" option: a new site in 3–5 days from $490. The product is run by InSync Agency: 4 years on the market, 150+ projects in 40+ niches.

FAQ

Why does agency GEO cost thousands of dollars a month?

That price covers a team's work: content, markup, measurement across several AI engines and external mentions. Publications, rankings and expert comments are done by hand and often need a placement budget. With several markets and languages, the workload multiplies.

Can I do GEO myself for free?

The technical basics, yes: allow AI crawlers in robots.txt, add Schema.org markup and sitemap.xml, and publish pages that answer customer questions. The hard part is consistency: new pages every month and measurement on the same set of queries. In that case you pay with your time.

Can a provider guarantee a spot in ChatGPT's answer?

No. AI answers depend on wording, search and many sources, and nobody controls them directly. A decent provider commits to a clear scope of work and regular measurement, not to a ranking.

Why does GEO Autopilot have a 3-month minimum?

Mentions in AI answers usually appear within 2–4 months. In one month you pay for setup and the first pages but won't see a trend yet. Three months is the minimum period to compare measurements.

Will GEO Autopilot work for a Tilda or Wix site?

Partially. Website builders limit access to robots.txt, markup and site files, so not everything can be configured. The product works best on WordPress and custom-coded sites, and for outdated sites there's the "Website + GEO" option from $490.
